Origins

Starting out writing about motorsport as a hobby, Craig Woollard quickly picked up a handful of freelance opportunities before being picked up by the Autosport Academy early in 2017. There, he learned from many of the best journalists in the business and joined the Motorsport Network subsidiary Motorsport Images later that year.

In five years in the largest collection of motorsport and automotive photography, Craig was involved in digitising and cataloguing over half a million media assets within the archive – learning substantial amounts about motorsport, automotive and their histories along the way.

The projects Craig worked on would go on to be used in books, magazines, live motorsport broadcasts, Netflix and in an Oscar-winning film, and worked with the agency’s live team during both Formula 1 and Formula E weekends.

The Big Breaks

Alongside his work with Motorsport Images, Craig continued his efforts as a journalist – freelancing for several publications and brands – and playing a key role with Autosport Academy-affiliated projects Formula Scout and FF1600 Website.

With Formula Scout, notably during the COVID-19 years, Craig started podcasting and was a regular feature in the paddocks (virtually due to the restrictions) and picked up acclaim from some of Formula 1’s top journalists for his efforts between 2020 and 2022.

Into Leadership

In 2022, Craig joined Pace Six Four to join its flagship Formula 1 client full-time with both its Digital and Communications teams. Craig built a keen eye for detail during this time and developed an immensely strong understanding of the relentless quality required to work in Formula 1. He also helped overhaul the team’s media asset management processes, making hundreds of thousands of assets easier to source.

Craig expanded his client portfolio with Pace Six Four to double figures, adding clients in F1, WEC, WRC, Formula E, IndyCar, Formula 2 and GTWCE among others to his experience.

Additionally, Craig took the role of Head of PR & Communications – stepping into Management and Senior Leadership – and overhauled the department to drastically increase its service offering to include a wide range of support in Editorial, Communications and Media Asset Management.

Away from the racetrack, Craig is a proud supporter of Ipswich Town Football Club and enjoys ice hockey, gaming, music, coffee, food and travelling.

Why Motorsport?

Motorsport has been Craig’s longest-standing passion alongside gaming. The vibrant colours and distinctive sounds of Formula 1 in the late 1990s drew Craig to this sport, and his passion exploded as the years went by, and he got into other categories. He found interest in the stories of drivers, engineers, mechanics, photographers, fans, sponsors, media and marketing – something which remains unwavering to this day.
